Conclusion: and four more points that should have been listed

1.    The true church teaches the Sermon on the Mount

2.    The true church teaches that there is the Lake of Fire

3.    The true church teaches that men will not have a preeminent
place in the Kingdom of Heaven.

4.    The true church warns us about the false prophets

Christ organized the Church (Eph 4:11-14)

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; - Ephesians 4:11-14

Since the LDS church has apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers I suppose they believe this is proof that Christ organized their church. While Jesus gave His Church these ministers, that does not prove a church who has elders bearing these titles was organized by Christ.

The LDS Church was organized by men. Only a handful of men (and women) claimed to see the miracle of the Book of Mormon. Compare this to Moses and Jesus; everyone saw their miracles. The structure and priesthoods of the Mormon Church are very different from the gospel Jesus taught and the apostles passed down to us.

The Roman Catholic Church uses a similar argument to claim the Pope is inerrant. They take a passage out of context,

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  - Matthew 16:18

Quoting this verse, they claim the Pope sits in Peter's seat, and like the LDS Church tracing authority to Joseph Smith, they trace their origins and authority back to Peter. The Roman Catholics and the LDS cannot both be right; however, it is possible that neither are.

The true church must bear the name of Jesus Christ
(Eph 5:23)

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body. - Ephesians 5:23

I am not sure how reading this verse in context shows that the true church bears the name of Jesus Christ. I do know that in the first century, the churches of Jesus Christ were named after their cities.

Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write.. - Revelation 2:1a

***

And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.  - Colossians 4:16

Starting a church and using the name of Jesus does not make it the true church since Jesus said:

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
- Matthew 24:5

The Lord spoke to Ananias, saying how to bear the name of Jesus.

But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he [Paul] is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel. For I will show him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.  - Acts 9:15-16

The true church must have a foundation of
Apostles and Prophets (Eph 2:19-20)

Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; - Ephesians 2:19-20

The church that Jesus Christ founded was built on a foundation of the twelve apostles. The prophets Paul speaks of can also be found in the Bible. To claim you have apostles and prophets in the leadership of your church proves nothing. Again, Jesus said:

I know thy works, and thy labor, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:  - Revelation 2:2

The LDS Church tries to defend the record of their prophets. Yet any sincere Bible student can see a sharp contrast between the accuracy of LDS prophets and the prophets in the Bible.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.  - 1 John 4:1

Finally, the Mormon's appoint their apostles and prophets, the apostles and prophets in the Bible were appointed by God. This makes all the difference.

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.  - 2 Peter 1:21

The true church must have the same organization as
Christ's Church (Eph 4:11-14)

The fold of Jesus Christ, in these latter days, has nothing to do with organization, it has to do with who you are following.

And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbade him, because he followeth not us. But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. For he that is not against us is on our part. - Mark 9:38-40

While the leadership of the LDS Church exalt themselves, Jesus taught:

But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. - Matthew 23:8-10

If you will study the New Testament, you will see that Christ did not command us to build any temples, or start any new priesthoods. The LDS Church is not organized like the first century church that Jesus created.

The true church must claim divine authority (Heb 4:4-10)

For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, Today, after so long a time; as it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. For if Joshua had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. - Hebrews 4:4-10

Jesus said:

If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. - John 5:31

Thus claiming divine authority proves nothing, the true church knows this. Nevertheless, cult leaders will claim divine authority, Jesus said:

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
- Matthew 24:5

The true church must have no paid ministry
(Acts 20:33-34; John 10:11-13)

I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel. Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. - Acts 20:33-34

***

I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is a hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep. - John 10:11-13

For the record, I am not paid to minister so I am not defending myself. These passages are taken out of context. Neither the New Testament nor the Old Testament forbids paying ministers. The Mormons claim to have restored the Levitical priesthood. If this were true, they would expect to live off the offerings of the people.

The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance.
- Deuteronomy 18:1

In letter to the Corinthians, Paul said:

I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service.  - 2 Corinthians 11:8

***

If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
- 1 Corinthians 9:11-12

When Jesus first sent His apostles out, He said for them to bring nothing because he expected them to be provided for.

Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.  - Matthew 10:10

Though the LDS Church makes this claim, it is hard to believe that none of the leaders in the LDS Church receive any compensation. And if they do, does not this disqualify the LDS Church from being the real church of Jesus Christ?

The true church must baptize by immersion (Matt 3:13-16)

Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John forbade him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: - Matthew 3:13-16

After His resurection, Jesus gathered His apostles together,

And he said unto them,  Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. - Mark 16:15-16

Many churches do just that. But we must preach the same Gospel. The apostle Paul said,

For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. - 1 Corinthians 1:17

***

As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.  - Galatians 1:9

While most Christians believe baptism should be by immersion, more importantly, It is more important to understand the difference between baptism and salvation.

The true church must bestow the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands (Acts 8:14-17)

Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. - Acts 8:14-17

This passage said that the origional apostles bestowed the Holy Ghost by laying on of hands, it says nothing more. Other passages show how the saints received the Holy Spirit when they believe the gospel.

While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
- Acts 10:44

While you must have the Holy Ghost, to belong to God. How you receive it is up to God.

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the  Holy Spirit to them that ask him?  - Luke 11:13

According to Jesus, it is not the laying on of hands, all we have to do is ask Him for the Holy Spirit to receive it. Our faith causes us to receive the Holy Spirit, not somebody elses hands.

That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.  - Galatians 3:14

Though the LDS Church claims they bestow the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands, did their members really receive the Holy Spirit?

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:  - John 15:26

The true church must practice divine healing (Mark 3:14-15)

And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils: - Mark 3:14-15

All divine healing is at the will of God. Even the apostle Paul did not get divine healing every time He wanted.

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.  - 2 Corinthians 12:9

Instead of healing Timothy, Paul said for him to,

Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.  - 1 Timothy 5:23

On another occasion Paul said:

Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.  - 2 Timothy 4:20

Even so, when Christ and his apostles walked on the earth they did real healings. People blind from birth, deaf, leprosy, withered and deformed limbs, the list goes on. There are no similar examples of divine healing in the Mormon Church today. Rather we should take Jesus warning.

For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. - Mark 13:22

***

A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them, and departed.  - Matthew 16:4

While God still heals in answer to prayer, it is the wicked who were seeking after signs. We should take this as a warning.

The true church must teach that God and Jesus are separate and distinct individuals (John 17:11; 20:17)

And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. - John 17:11

***

Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. - John 20:17

There are some differences of opinion on how separate Jesus is from the Father.

I and my Father are one. - John 10:30

...

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. - John 14:9-10

The fact is, nobody has seen the father.

And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live
- Exodus 33:20

***

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.  - John 1:18

***

No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.  - 1 John 4:12

Since Jesus and the Father are both bigger than we can comprehend, it is okay to be patient and admit we don't know everything.

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,  - Ephesians 3:20

***

And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. - John 21:25

The true church must teach that God and Jesus have bodies of flesh and bone (Luke 23:36-39; Acts 1:9-11; Heb 1:1-3)

And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself. And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. - Luke 23:36-39

***

God who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
- Hebrews 1:1-3

If Joseph Smith had seen the father his teachings would line up with the scriptures. For instance, Joseph Smith taught that the God the Father had a father and he had a father. The Scriptures teach:

Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any
- Isaiah 44:8

***

I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. - Isaiah 45:5-6

***

Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Savior; there is none beside me. - Isaiah 45:21

***

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,  - Isaiah 46:9

Our flesh and bones are part of the creation, they are a tabernacle.

Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath showed me. - 2 Peter 1:13-14

In fact Joseph Smith's version of God is completely alien to what is taught in the Scriptures. There is no passage of scripture that teaches the Father ever had flesh and bones. Rather, both Jesus and the apostles taught:

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
- John 4:24

***

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.  - John 6:63

***

Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.  - 1 Corinthians 15:50

We should heed Paul when he wrote:

As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. - Galatians 1:9

The officers must be called by God (Heb 4:4; Ex 28:1; 40:13-16)

For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. - Hebrews 4:4

***

And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons. - Exodus 28:1

***

And thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments, and anoint him, and sanctify him; that he may minister unto me in the priest's office. And thou shalt bring his sons, and clothe them with coats: And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office: for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations. Thus did Moses: according to all that the LORD commanded him, so did he. - Exodus 40:13-16

God calling you and claiming God called you are two different things. Without exception, every false apostle and prophet claims God called him.

For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.  - Acts 20:29

***

I know thy works, and thy labor, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: - Revelation 2:2

Did anyone in the LDS Church try their apostles or prophet before they joined the church? Has anyone in the LDS Church been taught how to try their apostles or prophet?

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.  - 1 John 4:1

The true church must claim revelation from God (Amos 3:7)

Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.  - Amos 3:7

Again, all false prophets claim their revelations are from God.

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.  - Matthew 7:15

***

For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.  - Mark 13:22

More important than claiming revelations from God is being faithful to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
- Galatians 1:8-9

Even if Joseph Smith did receive the alleged gold plates from an angel. Since they contain a different gospel than we received from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the angel would be cursed.

The true church must be a missionary church (Matt 28:19-20)

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the  Holy  Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
- Matthew 28:19-20

It is true that the church of Jesus Christ is a missionary chruch, this does not mean that you have to go door to door, there are many other ways to evangelize and teach. Not to mention that there are other groups that evangelize the same way as the LDS Church does.

The true church must be a restored church (Acts 3:19-20)

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: - Acts 3:19-20

Does this point disallow the First Century Church? If you will look carefully, chapter three of Acts does not speak of a restored church; rather, the Scriptures teach that there would always be a faithful remnant.

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  - Matthew 16:18

To be a Mormon, you must believe the gates of hell did prevail; or why would Joseph Smith need to restore the church?

Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:  - Hebrews 12:28

Cults commonly teach that their group is the restored church.

The true church must practice baptism for the dead
(1Cor 15:16&29)

For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: - 1 Corinthians 15:16

***

Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead? - 1 Corinthians 15:29

To understand a verse we must read it in context. Once you read this chapter, the question is who are the they? While Paul does not clearly identify who they are, he does contrast it with we in the next verse.

And why stand we in jeopardy every hour? - 1 Corinthians 15:30

The context of this chapter may imply that the "they" could be those who are teaching that there is no resurrection from the dead. Whether you agree with me or not, Paul, Moses and Jesus all taught that every doctrine should be established at the mouth or two or more witnesses.

This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. - 2 Corinthians 13:1

The LDS Church has made this vague verse a cornerstone of their faith. Thus while Paul warned:

Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.  - 1 Timothy 1:4

The LDS Church has become preoccupied or synonymous with genealogies. If baptism for the dead were important, the Bible would contain more than one vague verse on the subject. Rather Jesus said:

And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.  - John 5:29

And Paul said:

[God] will render to every man according to his deeds:  - Romans 2:6

Neither  qualified their statements with any need to be baptized. Jesus did not command us to baptize the dead,

But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. - Matthew 8:22

"By their fruits ye shall know them." (Matt 7:20)

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.  - Matthew 7:20

A Mormon friend who just started reading the Bible said that, as a boy scout in Utah, he was baptized 240 times for the dead. Yet, he and his friends were never taught the way of salvation. Rather, he and his friends behaved just like their secular counterparts.

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. - Matthew 7:15-20

As a missionary to Mexico, I personally know a village where some polygamous Mormons keep a second wife. It is not the polygamy that I condemn, rather it is their sneakiness.

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.  - Matthew 7:20

My friend gave me many examples of his fruit while growing up. But rather than go into graphic detail I would invite each Mormon to pray and ask God to reveal the truth about the LDS Church. And if they, as a Mormon, personally produce the fruit that Jesus spoke of.

Conclusion: and four more points that should have been listed

If you looked at proof verses for these points, you saw that many do not address the point they are trying to prove. Whoever made this list of 17 points was already a member of the LDS church. He was only trying to argue that the LDS Church is the true church. He left out every Scripture passage that refutes his points.

This begs another question, what is missing from this list? Or, are there any points of the true church that they may have forgot to mention?

The true church teaches the Sermon on the Mount

A careful examination of the Sermon on the Mount will show how the book of Mormon plagiarized it from the King James Version of the Bible. More importantly, one should read this sermon carefully, for Jesus closed by saying,

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not; for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. - Matthew 7:22-27

The true church teaches that there is the Lake of Fire

And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh. - Isaiah 66:24

***

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
- Revelation 20:15

The teaching of a telestial kingdom is Mormon mythology.

And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
- 2 Timothy 4:4

The scriptures teach that those who deserve it will be punished.

And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. - Luke 12:47-48

The true church does not teach men will be superior to women in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Though we have different roles in this life, men are not better than women nor will they have a preeminent place in the Kingdom of Heaven. The man was given head over the woman not to rule over her, but to protect her.

And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the Scriptures, neither the power of  God? For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
- Mark 12:24-25

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.  - Galatians 3:28

The husband rules over his wife, not just for her to serve him, but for him to protect and provide for her. Men are to love their wives as Christ loves the Church.

Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.  - 1 Peter 3:7
